Working at the intersection of human capability, intelligent technology and meaningful change
The question that drives me...

What must we become capable of now?

Hi, I’m Kerryn Kohl, Founder and Director of Life Online.

My work has always been about people — how we learn, adapt, make meaning and perform when the world around us changes.
Over more than two decades, that has taken me from psychology and adult learning into organisational development, leadership, culture, workforce transformation and technology. I have worked in global consulting, built and scaled businesses, designed capability systems, coached individuals and leaders, and led large-scale learning and transformation work across multiple countries and sectors.
Since 2016, I have also been deeply involved in intelligent technology — developing and deploying AI-enabled learning and talent platforms at a time when machine learning was still relatively unfamiliar to many organisations. One of those platforms later grew to more than 90,000 licences before the business was acquired.

My front row seat to the technology evolving in real time changed the way I thought about the future.
I stopped seeing human and artificial intelligence as competing forces and became increasingly interested in what becomes possible when the two work together well. That idea became C’ynergy — the intelligent collaboration between human judgement and machine capability.
Today, as Founder and Director of Life Online, author and Human Capability Architect, my work sits at the intersection of leadership, learning, culture and AI transformation.
I do not claim to have all the answers. No one does, but what I do have is a combination of deep experience in human capability, practical technology exposure, original programmes and frameworks, and hard-won perspective from building, leading and navigating change myself.
The question that now sits at the centre of my work is: What must we become capable of now?
This is the question I keep returning to — for leaders, organisations and individuals alike.

My Work Began with People...

Since 2016, we have been building and deploying intelligent platforms, back when machine learning was still largely hand-coded, and AI was a concept many organisations were only beginning to take seriously. We have watched the technology evolve in real time, and as the systems became more capable, so did our understanding of what truly matters. What we discovered was not a contest between human and artificial intelligence, but the possibility of collaboration two forms of capability working together in ways that can be more powerful than either alone. We call that C’ynergy. Life Online was built to help make sense of this new world, to share what we have learned through lived experience, and to support individuals and organisations in strengthening the human capabilities that cannot be automated, while learning to work wisely with the technologies that can. We do not claim to have all the answers — no one does. But we do bring:
Leadership depthExperience building human capability and leading through uncertainty.
Technology experience Practical involvement with intelligent platforms and AI-enabled work since 2016. A proprietary system Creator of the SHIFT Leadership programme, the C’ynergy- programme and the Reclaim programme Most importantly hard-won wisdom, deep knowledge, practical methods, and proven tools, along with a willingness to walk alongside others as we make sense of what this moment asks of us.

As with all good things, Life online was born from a vision

When I first imagined what was to become Life Online, it was a physical brick-and-mortar place where people could gather, reflect, learn, grow, and access what they needed for the next stage of their lives. Today, that same vision is taking shape in digital form; this is that place.
A place, reimagined for the world we now live in: digital, connected, complex, and fast-moving. A space where you can pause, reflect, reset, reclaim, and rebuild. A digital corner in which to reconnect with what matters most, gain access to thoughtfully curated resources, meaningful learning, fresh perspectives, and practical tools for change.

Build the capability needed to thrive

If there is one word that best describes both my life and my career, it is transformation. I am fascinated by it — at scale, inside organisations, and at the deeply personal level of an individual life. To me, transformation is best described as a feeling, a knowing - an aha moment. Something clicks. The lights come on. In a split second, you see something differently — your perspective is different - you are different! But transformation is not something you can force. You can only create the conditions in which it becomes possible. That is why I resist the language of “we help you”. Life Online is not here to fix people, you are not broken, you do not need to be helped. We exist to equip and empower, because you are more than capable of helping yourself. Often, what is needed is the right condition at the right time: a question, a conversation, a perspective, an article, a course, a tool. Something that causes you to pause. And in that pause, something shifts. Confusion becomes understanding. Overwhelm becomes direction. A different possibility becomes visible. My vision for Life Online is to create these conditions for transformation. Welcome to the Life Online Collective.

Transformation is a verb.

Projects

I have spent most of my career asking one question:

How do people adapt when the world around them changes?

That question has taken me through psychology, adult learning, organisational behaviour, leadership, technology, entrepreneurship, coaching and AI. Across all of it, I have remained fascinated by how people make meaning, how they learn, what helps them change, and what creates the conditions for a genuine shift in perspective. I do not believe transformation can be prescribed, but I do believe the right question, conversation, framework, experience, or insight can create the conditions for something to click - and that belief has shaped almost everything I have built.

Why I created Life Online

Long before Life Online became what it is today, I imagined a physical place people could come to when they needed to pause, think, learn, reset or begin again. A place that recognised something I have always believed: People are whole. We don't leave our fears, values, relationships, ambitions or wellbeing at the office door. We don't become entirely different people when we go home. We lead in boardrooms and kitchens. We carry the same human being into every role we occupy. The original Life Online therefore grew from an integrated view of wellbeing — one that connected the individual and the organisation rather than treating them as separate worlds. We created Life Online to take … Over time, the context changed. AI moved from the margins into everyday life. Work accelerated. Digital systems became inseparable from how we learn, lead, communicate and make decisions. And the original vision became more relevant, not less. The physical place I once imagined became a digital one: Life Online. A place where people and organisations can pause, reflect, learn, build capability, reclaim agency and deliberately shape what comes next. The idea behind Life Online began when I was 18. At the time, I imagined creating a physical wellbeing centre — a place where people could access the ideas, tools, knowledge and experiences that might help them understand themselves better, navigate change and unlock their own potential. It was never about “fixing” people. I have always believed people are capable of helping themselves. What interested me was creating the conditions for those pivotal moments when something becomes clearer and a new direction becomes possible. Pasted text Years later, technology made it possible to reimagine that original idea. Life Online became the digital expression of it. A place for people and organisations to pause, learn, rethink, build capability and shape what comes next.
